Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is course control done?

Course checks are not made on the transcript until the graduation petition is submitted. The ‘Draft Graduation Transcript’ is now available to students. For course control, you need to download the course plan of the curriculum year you are subject to from the department web page and match it with the Draft Graduation Transcript. No other menu is used for graduation procedures. For graduation, in summary, all courses in the syllabus must be passed and the total ECTS value shown in the syllabus must be met.

What should I pay attention to when choosing out-of-field courses?

All out-of-field courses are defined as the 5th group in the automation. Therefore, it does not matter which one you take or which semester you take. For graduation, you must have taken a total of 5 courses from this group.

What should I pay attention to when choosing in-field courses?

The groups of in-field courses are defined differently from each other in the automation. According to the current course plans of Civil Engineering, you must take one course from each group. If you have never taken a course from a group, it is not possible to take extra courses from another group and count them.

Who is entitled to an additional exam?

Additional exam applications are checked using the ‘Draft Graduation Transcript’. No other menu is used. The following conditions must be met for the additional exam right (according to Article 31 of the Regulation):

How to apply for an additional exam?

The acceptance or rejection status of the students' additional exam requests will be announced on the department's web page 1 day before the exam at the latest. Students who apply for additional exams should follow the announcements of the department.

How long does the graduation process take?

Depending on the intensity of academic and administrative staff, graduation procedures can sometimes take up to 1 month. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that you submit your graduation petition to the department on the day you meet the graduation requirements, considering the possibilities of getting a job, going abroad, applying for a master's degree, etc.

I came with DGS. What should I do if I want to take upper division courses instead of the courses I am exempt from?

In this case, you should write a petition to the head of the department. In the petition, you must specify the ECTS values of the courses you are exempt from and the courses you want to take instead. The ECTS value of the new courses you will take should not exceed the ECTS value of the exempted courses. Your petition is then evaluated by the relevant commission. Then it is sent to student affairs and the courses you want to take there are entered into the system.
