In parallel with the development in other sectors, livestock farming in Turkey is experiencing rapid growth, leading to a shift from traditional and primitive farming units to larger-capacity, modern livestock farms. Numerous computer-controlled farms are being established in the cattle sector, while in the poultry sector, integrated organizations focus heavily on advanced techniques and field services. Moreover, due to cultural development, the number of pets (household and hobby animals) is rapidly increasing, which has led to a growing need for technical personnel in veterinary clinics, dog and cat shelters, training, and breeding units.

Additionally, the transition of feed factories to scientific and technology-driven production methods has increased the demand for both laboratory and technical field personnel in the feed industry. This demand has created difficulties in meeting the need for skilled personnel.

The Laborant and Veterinary Health Program has been designed to address the current needs in animal breeding, feeding, animal health, and veterinary services. The program is structured to provide foundational knowledge in the first year. In the second year, elective courses allow students to receive practical and specific training tailored to their desired sector (large cattle, poultry, pet clinics and services, and feed industry).

This approach ensures the development of highly skilled technical personnel with strong knowledge and practical skills in fields with high employment opportunities. The program also includes training in auxiliary veterinary services, clinical and feed laboratory analyses, and feed marketing techniques, allowing students to specialize in these areas.
