About Us

In 1981, a program was established within the Bursa Higher Teacher Education School, which trained foreign language teachers. This program was restructured in 1982 within the Faculty of Education at Uludağ University. The curriculum was revised by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 1998 and again updated by YÖK in 2006. Since 1996, the program has been located in the Görükle campus, and a preparatory class has been in place since the 1990-1991 academic year.

This program, part of the scientific framework of the Turkish Higher Education System within the Teacher Training and Educational Sciences Field, offers a first-cycle degree of 240 ECTS credits in English Language Education, within the English Language Teaching department. Those who successfully complete the program and acquire its qualifications receive a Bachelor's degree in English Language Education.

The program aims to train distinguished English teachers who are committed to Atatürk's principles and reforms, have a sense of national and universal identity, are tolerant, fair, and have absorbed the culture of democracy. In addition to training teachers, the program, with its academic staff and physical infrastructure, conducts original, theoretical, and applied scientific research in areas related to English language teaching. It prepares and presents language teaching programs for various organizations on topics related to foreign languages needed by society. The program also raises awareness among individuals working in various institutions about the importance of learning English due to its role as a general communication platform, resulting from developments in information and communication technologies. The program fulfills its community service obligations according to universal standards.

The program also conducts faculty and student exchange programs within the Erasmus framework.
