A “Uniform Wearing Ceremony” was held for the first year students who were accepted to the Nursing Department.
The first-year students who started training to become new members of the health army received their white uniforms at a ceremony. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Nurcan Özyazıcıoğlu, Head of the Nursing Department Prof. Dr. Neriman Akansel, academicians, students and their families attended the event held at the Prof. Dr. Mete Cengiz Cultural Center.
THE BIGGEST DAY OF PRIDE
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu emphasized that they are a well-established university preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. Stating that they are among the 23 research universities and that they conduct academic studies with the vision of a serious higher education institution with accreditation and quality certificates, Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu said; “Our Faculty of Health Sciences also continues its education and training activities within an extremely modern system in this sense. I would like to congratulate our students who successfully passed the university entrance exam and preferred the nursing department. I would also like to address the parents from here. Today is your biggest day of pride. You have delivered your children to us with great pride. They are also almost completing their first year of education and will soon wear their uniforms. The white uniform represents health, cleanliness and status. Therefore, you should wear these uniforms with pride throughout your life.”
BE WILLING AND DESIRE!
Addressing young nurse candidates in his speech, Vice Rector Kırıştıoğlu said, “Being a nurse is difficult. It requires a lot of devotion. When you start your profession, you will understand much better how true this is. I recommend that you continue to improve yourself while doing your profession. Aim to be successful and productive in your social life. You will do the profession that will have the most frequent communication with patients. Correct communication will always make you gain. Dear young people; we want you to know that we will give you all the support we can as your teachers to make you people who will contribute to the health sector. You need to look to the future with hope. Be willing and determined. Show loyalty to your family, teachers and country. I wish you all the best, may your path and fortune be open.”
DEAN ÖZYAZICIOĞLU: EMPATHY WITH PATIENTS, GIVE THEM TRUST
Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Nurcan Özyazıcıoğlu emphasized that the human resources trained in the field of health are one of the most important assets of a country. Stating that the quality of education will directly serve the quality of the service to be provided, Prof. Dr. Nurcan Özyazıcıoğlu said; “Our faculty is a respected higher education institution that trains qualified personnel for the health sector and provides undergraduate education. In addition to theoretical courses, our nursing department also includes practical courses. By applying theoretical knowledge in the clinical field, it is aimed to gain some skills that cannot be taught sufficiently in the courses and positive contributions are made to the development of students. Our students go to practice at Bursa Uludağ University Hospital, which is equipped with sufficient healthcare personnel, nurses and equipment and also has domestic and international quality certificates. Dear students, we will always be with you. However, since you will be working in an important profession where you work with people; we recommend that you try to establish empathy and trust with the patient, love your profession, be willing to use new technologies and cooperate with other members of the profession. We wish you all success.”
The event, in which Nursing Department Head Prof. Dr. Neriman Akansel and Nursing Undergraduate and Graduate Graduates Association President Vahid Dalkızan also gave speeches, ended after the students were invited to the stage and congratulated.
